Continuous Data Protection

July 31, 2017

Learn about Snowflake’s total data protection

  • Encryption: data always encrypted, automatically
  • Redundancy: automatic replication designed for “11 9’s” of protection
  • Instant recovery: self-service data recovery via SQL

White Paper Abstract:

"Traditional data warehouses provide only a baseline level of protection. For example, data warehouses often provide basic access control mechanisms to control data access, and they provide an internal data replication factor to maintain additional copies of data within the cluster as protection against disk or node failure. However, additional protection beyond this basic layer is the responsibility of the user—the user needs to evaluate, select, implement, and monitor firewalls, database backup, external data replication, network security, datacenter security, and more. The cost and complexity of these additional measures adds a significant burden to already stretched IT organizations."
